The Punjab government has set up control rooms across all 23 districts to handle any flood-like situations during the upcoming monsoon season, Minister Bram Shanker Jimpa announced on Monday.
The district revenue officers have been designated as the nodal officers for these control rooms, according to the Revenue, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management Minister.
Jimpa noted that financial aid had already been distributed to all deputy commissioners for drain cleaning, a task that has been completed. Additionally, Local Government Minister Balkar Singh has instructed municipal commissioners, additional deputy commissioners, and other municipal officers to ensure thorough drainage and cleanliness of drains.
During a meeting, Minister Singh emphasized the importance of maintaining clean sewage systems. He also directed officials to identify safe buildings in advance for relocating people in the event of a flood.
