Nagarnar Steel Plant (NSP) has successfully surpassed the halfway mark of its rated capacity, producing 1.62 million tonnes of hot metal in its debut operational year.
The plant, dubbed India's youngest steel unit, is managed by NMDC Steel Ltd, a recently demerged entity from NMDC. Set up at an estimated cost of Rs 24,000 crore, the facility is situated in Chhattisgarh.
NMDC Steel Ltd confirmed the achievement, highlighting that Nagarnar's blast furnace is the largest in Chhattisgarh and the second-largest nationally, with a daily production capacity of 9,500 tonnes of hot metal.
