The Bihar government has taken a significant step to improve its law and order situation by directing senior police officers to fast-track the investigation of 2.67 lakh pending cases. The goal is to reduce this backlog to 1 lakh within the next six months.
The directive was issued by Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena during a recent review meeting. The officials have been instructed to ensure not only speedy investigations but also the execution of 86,000 pending non-bailable warrants against suspects.
The state's police force now comprises a total of 23,000 investigators, tasked with prioritizing the completion of pending cases. District magistrates have also been asked to provide land for police stations that lack buildings in their jurisdictions, further aiding the enforcement efforts.
