A Russian missile strike has caused significant damage to a school and hospital in Sumy, a northeastern city in Ukraine. The attack resulted in at least 74 injuries, including 13 children. This incident comes amid ongoing ceasefire talks between Russian and U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia.
According to Sumy’s regional governor, Volodymyr Artiukh, several residential blocks were also affected in the city center, with smoke and fires visible. The children were reportedly in a shelter at the time of the attack, said Artiukh, who surveyed the scene marked by heavy black smoke and shattered windows.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha criticized Russia's actions, stating that Moscow speaks of peace while launching violent assaults on residential areas. The city of Sumy, located close to the Russian border, is frequently targeted by drone and missile strikes.
