A special PMLA court has mandated that Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai provide Jain food to detainee Ritesh Shah, who is involved in a money laundering case. The directive follows Shah's complaint about the jail's non-compliance with a previous court order.
The order, originally issued on May 14, required the prison to adhere to Shah's religious dietary practices. However, Shah alleged through his attorney Viral Barbar that the facility continued to ignore the mandate.
Judge Raju Rote reiterated the necessity for the jail to accommodate Shah's request, underscoring the importance of respecting religious beliefs even within the confines of the judicial system.
