The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and a department of the Jammu and Kashmir government have embarked on a project to transform Bhadrakali Temple, located at Thalwal village, into a Cultural Heritage Centre.
The MoU signing ceremony, overseen by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, marks a significant step in preserving this revered site for the Kashmiri Pandit community. Situated on the banks of the Nikki Tawi river, the temple bears profound cultural and historical relevance.
Under NHPC's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, the project will involve a Rs 6.60 crore investment, encompassing developments such as ghats, a 'yagya shala,' parking facilities, a protection wall, and building renovations. The initiative underscores a commitment to safeguarding heritage and community identity.
