BJP's Electoral Roll Clash in Bengal: A Drama Unfolds

Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari declared on Monday that the BJP will oppose the West Bengal assembly elections unless the state's electoral rolls undergo thorough cleaning through the ongoing SIR exercise to ensure only genuine voters remain on the list.

Speaking after submitting a memorandum to Governor CV Ananda Bose at Lok Bhavan, Adhikari accused election officials of colluding with the TMC and political firm I-PAC to harass voters. He criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's actions as 'planned drama' aimed at garnering sympathy amid her decreasing popularity.

Adhikari pointed to irregularities in the electoral process and blamed the state government for any election-related deaths. He urged Governor Bose to intervene, emphasizing the urgency of addressing these issues to ensure fair elections and avert the imposition of President's Rule.
