Strategic Transfers in West Bengal Ahead of Key Assembly Polls

Strategic Transfers in West Bengal Ahead of Key Assembly Polls

In a strategic move before the high-stakes Assembly elections, the West Bengal government has transferred six senior IPS officers, officials reported on Saturday. This latest shuffle comes shortly after two significant reshuffles were conducted mere days apart at the end of January.

According to official sources, Rajeev Mishra has been promoted to ADG and IGP, South Bengal, previously serving as ADG and IGP of Modernisation and Coordination. Another significant change includes Laxmi Narayan Meena, who has been appointed as ADG and IGP of CID from his earlier position in Correctional Services.

The reshuffle continues with Mukesh, the former IGP of the Murshidabad and Jangipur Range, taking the role of IGP in the Intelligence Branch. Meanwhile, Syed Waqar Raza transitions from DIG of Nadia and Ranaghat Range to DIG of Murshidabad Range. Krishnanagar SP K Amarnath is now the SP of Jalpaiguri, while Y Raghuvanshi, the outgoing SP of Jalpaiguri, moves to Krishnanagar.
