Kathmandu Kalinga Literary Festival: Celebrating South Asian Literary Heritage

This Saturday marked the kickoff of the third Kathmandu Kalinga Literary Festival in Lalitpur Metropolitan City, with over 200 literary personalities from Nepal, India, and South Asia participating.

Keynote speakers included Sanjeev Sanyal, economist and advisor to the Indian Prime Minister, and Lakshmi M Puri, a former UN Assistant Secretary-General turned novelist, among others. Prominent Nepali author Dr. Bhuwan Dhungana also addressed the audience, with festival chair Rashmi Ranjan overseeing the inaugural event.

The two-day festival, featuring writers from around the region, aims to foster cultural and literary exchange. The event, themed ‘Nepal: The Gateway to Asian Art, Culture, and Literature,’ was inaugurated by Bhupal Rai, Chancellor of the Nepal Academy. The festival will showcase literature, music, dance, poetry, and other art forms, celebrating the cultures of Nepal and India.
